Opening Ceremony at St. Stephen’s Cathedral

 


In the afternoon the Opening Ceremony is planned to take place at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which is the most important religious building and the symbol of Vienna.
Note: all choirs are welcome to attend the opening ceremony as audience.

 


 

26th July


Voices for Peace Concerts

 


In the evening there will be Voices for Peace Concerts in the city, e.g. in the Vienna Boys Choir Concert Hall, in the Peter's Church, in the Schubert Church (where Franz Schubert was baptized), and in front of the famous City Hall of Vienna.
Note: choirs can apply for performance at one of the concerts. Each choir has chance to sing individually on the stage. The whole concert will be shared with other choirs.

 


 

27th July


Performance at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna

 


United Nations Headquarters in Vienna has been supporting the festival since its inauguration in 2010. All choirs will have again the chance to perform at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna (VIC).

Note: all choirs can apply for performance at UN Vienna. Each choir has chance to sing individually on this honored site in front of the international guests and UN staff.




27th July

Donation Sales to the UNICEF

 


Choirs participating in the Festival may join the initiative and sell their souvenirs and merchandising articles in the main hall of United Nations Headquarters in Vienna (Rotunda). In this way the choirs may promote their music and donate to children in need. The sales income will be donated to UNICEF. UNICEF Austria welcomes the goodwill acts of the choirs and will issue a certificate to each donating choir.
Note: all choirs are welcome to join in this event. Application in advance is necessary. Choirs are welcome to send its own representatives to handle the sales activities. But in case its representatives can not attend the whole time, there will Festival staff members to take care about your table and sales articles.




27th July

Workshops at the residence of The Vienna Boys Choir (Part I)


For the choirs participating in the category “Celebration” (the non-competitive category of the festival), workshops will be organized in the beautiful Augarten Palace - the residence of The Vienna Boys Choir.
Under the leadership of Prof. Gerald Wirth, the artistic director of the Vienna Boys Choir and the artistic director of the festival, conductors from the Vienna Boys Choir and other famous Austrian choral conductors will coach the choirs with different themes and techniques.
Note: each choir will get an individual workshop of app. 2 hours.

Music without Borders Concerts (Part I)



In the afternoon the Music without Borders Concerts are planned to take place at some social institutions / retirement homes in Vienna.
Note: choirs can apply for performance at one of the concerts. Each choir has chance to sing individually. The whole concert will be shared with other choirs.

Continuing the workshops from last day.

Competition at Muth - the Vienna Boys Choir Concert Hall



Choirs participating in the category “Competition” will make their debuts in front of the international jury, consisting of world well-known choral conductors and experts. The competition will take place at the concert hall of The Vienna Boys Choir. For details please read the chapter “Celebration and Competition”.
After its competitive performance, each choir will get a short workshop, coached by conductors from the Vienna Boys Choir and other famous Austrian choral conductors.

Music without Borders Concerts (Part II)



In the afternoon the Music without Borders Concerts will go on in some other social institutions / retirement homes in Vienna.
Note: choirs can apply for performance at one of the concerts. Each choir has chance to sing individually. The whole concert will be shared with other choirs.

Music Dinner and Party



In the evening, a dinner and party will be organized to give all choir members to refresh, to sing, to dance and celebrate together. A great chance to make new friends with other choirs. An Austrian folk music will accompany through the night.
Note: all choirs are welcome to the barbecue party. Application in advance is necessary.




29th July

Public Rehearsal of the Vienna Boys Choir


To meet wishes of some choirs, the famous Vienna Boys Choir will give a rehearsal for public all interested choirs, to show its tradition and methods.

Note: all choirs are welcome to watch.

Gala concert together with the Vienna Boys Choir, at the famous Golden Hall of Musikverein



The rehearsals and gala concert will take place at the famous Golden Hall of the Musikverein, where the famous New Year’s Concert of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is broadcasted each year to the world ( https://www.musikverein.at ).
The Vienna Boys Choir will join in the gala concert and perform with all participating choirs of the World Peace Choral Festival. It will be one of the highlights of the festival and give the choir members an unforgettable 
memory. 

Note: all choirs are welcome to perform at the Gala Concert. Each choir has chance to sing individually on the stage. The whole concert will be shared with other choirs.




Other Special Concerts:

Other special caritas concerts and performances in local culture center/churches/social institutions can be organized for the choirs who apply in advance.
