The World Peace Choral Festival 2016

When the melody of the song "Coming together to sing, singing for a better future" lingered in the Vienna Concert Hall, everyone was touched by the atmosphere of the highlight and the World Peace Choral Festival went to its 7th successful end on the 22nd July, 2016.

During the 4 days of the festival, a series of activities and events were organized for the participants from Austria, China Mainland, Macao, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Japan, Romania, Spain, which includes the opening ceremony in the famous St. Stephen's Cathedral, Voices for Peace Concerts in different churches and concert halls, individual workshops for the choirs in the Augarten Palace - the residence of the Vienna Boys Choir, competition in front of an international jury, Reception & Guided tour through the Austrian National Parliament, invited Performance by the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, visited and performanced at some retirement homes in Vienna, donation sales for supporting UNICEF, BBQ Party at the riverside of Danube, gala concerts at the Vienna Concert Hall, etc. Getting together, exchanges, making new friends left deep and beautiful memory about the festival and Vienna.

The United Nations Headquarters in Vienna has been supporting the festival since its inauguration, and the participation of the Vienna Boys Choir at each of the past festivals has built a fixed component and highlight of the festival.

Under the motto "Coming together to sing, singing for a better future" the World Peace Choral Festival aims to provide a platform for the young generation as well as enthusiastic adult choirs of different countries to perform, communicate and to create better intercultural understanding.

The festival is organized annually in Vienna in the 2nd half of July each year, and has got supports from the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, Austrian government authorities, NGOs, enterprises and a series of personalities since its premiere in the year of 2010. Choirs from Austria (including the famous Vienna Boys Choir), Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan), Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Georgia, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Tschech Republic, USA, etc. have participated in the festival and brought beautiful memory and friendship back home.

The 8th World Peace Choral Festival will take place from July 26th to 29th, 2017. You are welcome to join in this unique and meaningful event!
